Our Story
Biemond Nurseries is committed to providing beautiful indoor plants, we pride ourselves on a spirit of excellence in everything we do. There is a high emphasis placed on plant quality at Biemond Nurseries.
Biemond Nurseries was established in 1985 by Bill & Marion Biemond. As a teenager, Bill studied horticulture and participated in a grower exchange program, where he traveled to the United States. He then worked in various nurseries in Holland. In this time he learned from some of the best growers and plant breeders in the world. He took this experience to Australia and settled in the Yarra Valley and started growing. Bill's passion for growing plants has been passed on to his son Steve, who took over the business in 2015, bringing the next generation into this family business. Biemond Nurseries has grown from one site in Seville to over 11,000 square meters of greenhouses in three locations, most recently acquiring land in Wandin.
Biemond Nurseries prides itself on a spirit of excellence in everything that we do; this attitude spreads across all aspects of the business from the way we pick out plants to the way we conduct ourselves in the market. Quality can be a very subjective topic, here at Biemond Nurseries we perform quality assurance on our plants in two parts. Firstly, the plant needs to look fresh and lush above the soil, as well as measure to a certain size, before we will pick and pack it for our customers. We will not make plants available that we do not deem large enough or healthy. Secondly, the roots need to be healthy, white and fibrous which will allow the plant to uptake water and fertilizer. This is done through regular spot checks while the plants are still in the greenhouse. Providing these conditions are met the plant will be long lasting for the end consumer. Growing methods and technologies are regularly changing and Biemond Nurseries always aim to utilize these in order to grow better plants for our customers. We are totally committed to continuous improvement, if there is something that you are not 100% happy with, let us know and we will ensure that it is rectified or improved.
