Native to East Asia from China and Japan-South to the Philippines, commonly called the Autumn Fern or the Japanese Shield Fern. In spring the Autumn Fern's fronds unfurl a copper red, then turn to bronze and finally become a shiny dark green. The fronds are upright and lend a lacy texture to the garden. This fern is unusually deciduous. Similar to the Doodia media Rasp Fern. They are a very heat tolerant fern if given adequate shade and moisture. They grow best in a moist soil and partial to full shade.
