Stromanthe sanguinea
The Stromanthe sanguinea is native to tropical parts of the Americas, commonly called just Stromanthe. They are a popular relative to the Prayer Plant making them a great choice for an indoor plant. Like many plants for the Marantaceae family, the foliage is the stand out for this plant. With a dark reddish maroon underside and a deep green top side, these long slender leaves are truly eye-catching. Position your Stromanthe to receive bright indirect sunlight. Avoid the hot afternoon sun as it may burn the leaves. As the Stromanthe is a tropical plant, misting will help to provide humidity. Watering regularly, allowing the top layer of soil to dry out between watering.
